by popular demand...

so here is my version of the "Braid" recipe, by the way, i always encourage you to put your own twist to food...change some ingredients or add more or less dashes of spices, etc ( i am not one to follow recipes to a "t" or measure!):

ingredients as i did them:
one whole chicken or 3-4 cooked and cubed
one bag of frozen peas ( did not use the entire bag)- could use broccoli or carrots
4-6 yukon gold potatoes- cooked partially and cubed into 1" pieces
3/4 cup mayo (could do half mayo/half sour cream)
dash of salt and pepper
1-2 Tb finely chopped dill or big dash of dry dill
1 bag of shredded cheddar
1-2 rolls of ready to use croissant sheets ( you can buy one that does not have perforations or roll out the pre-cut marks
tablespoon of butter-melted

directions:
cook chicken, dice and set aside. chop potatoes and boil until lightly tender, drain. in a bowl, mix together, mayo, salt pepper, and dill. add potatoes and chicken. mix thoroughly. set aside.
open and roll out croissants onto a large baking sheet. here is where you decide what to do: i used two rolls of croissant and put together lengthwise to make large braid. you easily could make two small ones and bake both or freeze one and eat one. one small one could easily feed 3-4 adults. or just make it big and you have yummy leftovers. after u decide what you want to do, the steps are the same. make 1 1/2 inch wide slices down each side, one to two inches deep. this should leave you 5-7 inches to lay filling out. place filling and start at one end, turning dough in and then pick one section from each side and tie or twist together....continue down, making the braid. before tieing the last two together, tuck the other "butt" end in and then make final knot. lightly butter the top of the braid. I covered mine for about the first 20min, just b/c, as some know, i have a very old, crappy oven that likes to cook the outside far sooner than the inside of anything.
bake at 375' for 30-40 minutes until deeply golden brown and slighting bubbly!
remove and let sit for a few minutes, cut and dig in...yummy!
enjoy to all that try this out.
