its official, olivia is now able to sit up all on her own!! today on the dot, littlemama finally stopped weeble-wobbling and sat just perfectly stable.....ohh, how fast it all goes by.

olivia sitting up....6 months and amost 3 weeks
jackson and olivia sitting pretty...jackson is trying to imitate how littlemiss is sitting, hehe

little digger

so do you think we need to get littleman a sandbox?? see below

while nathan and i were doing yard work and filling in holes, jackson had fun with some of the sand pits by digging in them...not exactly what we were trying to do (make play spots), but it worked for him...i think it could have made for a great jeff foxworthy joke!! (wink)

littlemama mess

fresh blueberries+ learning to blow raspberries= big mess for mommy

we have expanded on our solid foods and trying our best to feed at least once a day if not twice, but olivia finds it more amusing to see how much she can get on me than in her belly. i must say, it does put a smile on my face to see her giggle after she blows razzes!! jackson never did this so this is a new adventure. olivia is really finding her personality as well as new noises every day. first it was growling, then it was fake- gasping for air, then she realized that if she coughed, she got our attention and once she knew that, she coughed until she was blue (not literally) but you get my drift....now she found raspberries, the cutest by far (less, when combined with food, hehe). jackson finds this noise the funniest by far and it cracks us up when he runs in saying, "mommy, sissy is making that tootie-noise again". i am enjoying every day with her and taking as much in as i can of each phase as i know, it too will pass. i just love this little monkey girl!!

bonding time with my boy

i have been making special time this summer just for jackson and i to share....it is truly hard to juggle your time between two children and there just never seems to be enough of me to go around! i do not know how people with more children do it. i am spread thin with just my two. jackson really needed this time with me, one on one...i can see his eyes light up when he knows it going to be just us and these shared moments have improved his behavior as well ( he had been acting out this summer, just to nathan and i...mr. sassy boy as he has been called)....we have done the usual park time, playdates to the pool, a trip to the planetarium and MOSH, movie day with good friends at the five points theatre ( they have been offering children's movies every tuesday) and visits to friends houses to round it out. i have really enjoyed these moments with my littleman, it brings me right back to that time when it was just him! he is getting so big and i can see that this time will pass fast and he will want friends over mom time...so i put these adventures in a special place in my heart!

by popular demand...

so here is my version of the "Braid" recipe, by the way, i always encourage you to put your own twist to food...change some ingredients or add more or less dashes of spices, etc ( i am not one to follow recipes to a "t" or measure!):

ingredients as i did them:
one whole chicken or 3-4 cooked and cubed
one bag of frozen peas ( did not use the entire bag)- could use broccoli or carrots
4-6 yukon gold potatoes- cooked partially and cubed into 1" pieces
3/4 cup mayo (could do half mayo/half sour cream)
dash of salt and pepper
1-2 Tb finely chopped dill or big dash of dry dill
1 bag of shredded cheddar
1-2 rolls of ready to use croissant sheets ( you can buy one that does not have perforations or roll out the pre-cut marks
tablespoon of butter-melted

directions:
cook chicken, dice and set aside. chop potatoes and boil until lightly tender, drain. in a bowl, mix together, mayo, salt pepper, and dill. add potatoes and chicken. mix thoroughly. set aside.
open and roll out croissants onto a large baking sheet. here is where you decide what to do: i used two rolls of croissant and put together lengthwise to make large braid. you easily could make two small ones and bake both or freeze one and eat one. one small one could easily feed 3-4 adults. or just make it big and you have yummy leftovers. after u decide what you want to do, the steps are the same. make 1 1/2 inch wide slices down each side, one to two inches deep. this should leave you 5-7 inches to lay filling out. place filling and start at one end, turning dough in and then pick one section from each side and tie or twist together....continue down, making the braid. before tieing the last two together, tuck the other "butt" end in and then make final knot. lightly butter the top of the braid. I covered mine for about the first 20min, just b/c, as some know, i have a very old, crappy oven that likes to cook the outside far sooner than the inside of anything.
bake at 375' for 30-40 minutes until deeply golden brown and slighting bubbly!
remove and let sit for a few minutes, cut and dig in...yummy!
enjoy to all that try this out.

The Braid

ok, so no, this post is not about hairstyles....but rather, a wonderful recipe. a friend of ours was so kind to have made this for us right after olivia was born and we loved it. so much so, that i have been thinking about it ever since, thus, deciding to make my own. i was not able to get in touch with her to get the recipe before the craving for it forced me to make my own version. i must say, it came close to the original, but not perfectly. This braid is the best comfort food....perfect to fill a man and rich enough to please girls as well (not really kid friendly, at least for mine, wink)....it is filled with chicken, potatoes, peas and a wonderful cream sauce...all stuffed into a croissant braid (hence, the name). it is not too hard to make and one could always add the ingredients they most love. easy to prepare, when kids are not pulling at your legs and worth all the effort. i must say, it is pretty enough to use for a dinner with friends! thanks heather for the inspiration!!!
